Project Pitch
A 70's Disco King is cryogenically frozen, in error, until now. He awakes to find a world he doesn't fit into anymore. A funny tale of identity.
All About the Project
The year is 1978. Vic Lianelli is the Disco King of the Boston Area's North Shore. He can dance like no other. Ladies want to get with him, guys want to be him. And, he finally got a job doing deliveries with his Uncle Bob, to keep his parents off his back. Life is good. Until one morning, while delivering a package to a new experimental Cryogenics facility, he is somehow frozen in the facility, unbeknownst to anyone. As the years pass, and there is no sign of Vic, his family and friends forget about him. 20 years later, he is found in the lab during a much overdue inventory. They thaw him out, and after a couple of months of treatment, Vic returns to the house he grew up in, to the same room in his parents house, ready to go back to the same life. However, the world has changed. Disco is dead. His favorite club is completely different. He gets up the courage to go in and try to show off his now old moves, but, is laughed out of the building. To add insult to injury, the son of his old rival, J.C., is the new Club King and part owner of the club, and throws Vic out unceremoniously. Crushed, Vic retreats into himself and throws himself into his new job at the corner store his brother now runs. There he meets, Janice, a very pretty co-worker, who shows Vic some compassion. The two quickly become friends, as they both share the same passion, Dance. Vic explains his situation, and Janice decides that he needs to learn some new moves and reclaim his throne as the Disco King. She urges him to enter the King of the Club dance contest in 2 weeks. She comes up with a plan to teach Vic every major dance craze from the last 20 years, and agrees to be his partner for the competition. Vic and Janice cram 20 years of dance into 2 weeks, and in the final few scenes, Vic and Janice outclass J.C.'s son and his partner, and Vic reclaims his place as the Disco King, teaching everyone the Hustle as the story ends.
