All About the Project
Cinema 16:9 will be a unique movie venue.
Set to open late 2008 - early 2009. Our first micro-cinema is slated to open in a historic 1920s movie theater which is being restored in the Philadelphia area. We're inviting all filmmakers to submit their films for free to the Cinema 16:9 Indie500. For two months we'll screen 500 films at Cinema 16:9. We're looking for any film, Shorts 30 minutes or less up to feature films.
What is a Micro-Cinema and what's it mean to have it screened there?
I'll start with the first question. A micro-cinema brings the professional big screen experience to people in a smaller theater space. Our cinema will seat 40-50 people in movie theater platform seating, The screen will be an ample 11'X6'. Audiences will be able to enjoy full surround sound. In short, your film will be seen in a movie theater.
What does it mean to have it screened at Cinema 16:9?
It means that your film will be digitally presented in full HD (if you have an HD output of your film) or by professional HD upscalling. Presenting your film in the way it should be - for the theater audience.
As we prepare for our opening, we feel it's only fitting to open with you, the Independent Filmmakers with your work on our screens. Submit your film(s) early and often for a better chance at an early acceptance.
